VG-800 System Program (Ver.1.02)

HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
Before you start, check the system program version of your VG-800.
  1. While holding down [ EXIT ] button, turn power ON.
    *Continue to hold down EXIT until the VG-800 logo appears on the display.
  2. After a short while, the version information appears on the display.
  3. After verifying the displayed version, turn off the power.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR VG-800
  • VG-800
  • USB cable
    * The update is carried out with the unit and the computer connected via USB.
    Provide a cable suitable for connection to the computer you're using.
  • Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • If you update on the normal mode of VG-800 against the correct procedure, this update data may destroy the system program.
  • Never power-off your VG-800 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the VG-800 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
  1. Hold down [ MENU ] button and turn on the power.
    * Continue to hold down MENU until "VG-800 UPDATER" appears on the display.
  2. Connect the computer to the VG-800's USB port by a USB cable.
  3. Open the "VG-800" drive folder in your personal computer.
    With Windows
    Within My Computer (or Computer), open "VG-800" (or Removable Disk).
    With macOS
    On the desktop, open the "VG-800" icon.
  4. Download the file named "vg800_sys_v102.zip".
    Please open/extract the downloaded "vg800_sys_v102.zip" file on your computer to get the update file in the "vg800_sys_v102" folder.
    Copy (drag and drop) all files in the "vg800_sys_v102" folder into the root directory of the "VG-800" drive.
  5. After the copy has been completed, unmount or remove the drive on your computer.
    With Windows
    Right-click on the "VG-800" icon in My Computer (or the "Removable Disk (*:)" icon) and execute "Eject."
    With macOS
    Drag the "VG-800" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.
  6. Disconnect the USB cable.
  7. The update process will start.
  8. The message "UPDATE SUCCEEDED" will appear on the display when the update process completes.
  9. Turn the VG-800 power off.
    Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.
