KATANA-AIR System Program ( Ver.1.30 )
HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the current version of the system working on your KATANA-AIR before downloading the file.
- Turn all knobs all the way counterclockwise.
- Turn off the power of the KATANA-AIR.
- While holding down the [CH A] button and [CH B] button, turn the power on.
- When all buttons except the [POWER] blink twice slowly, release the [CH A] and [CH B] buttons.
All buttons except the [POWER] rapidly blink twice. - See the combination of the indicator color (red/green/orange) of the [BST/MOD] button, [DELAY/FX] button, and [REVERB] button to confirm the current version.
*If it indicates the latest version, no update is necessary.R: Lid red, G: Lid green, O-FL: Blinking orange

Additional Functions
- The FS-1-WL wireless foot switch is now supported.
*The functions below are possible when using KATANA-AIR version 1.30 in combination with BOSS TONE STUDIO for KATANA-AIR version 1.2.0 or later.- The Pedal switch (L, C, R) / CTL1,2 jack on the FS-1-WL can now be used to switch patches and turn effects on and off.
- You can control PEDAL WAH and FOOT VOLUME using the FS-1-WL pedal.
- It is now possible to use the BOSS TONE STUDIO for KATANA-AIR app to set the respective functions of the Pedal switch (L, C, R) / CTL1,2 jack and EXP jack.

Additional Functions
- The EV-1-WL wireless MIDI expression pedal is now supported.
*The functions below are possible when using KATANA-AIR version 1.20 in combination with BOSS TONE STUDIO for KATANA-AIR version 1.1 or later.- You can control PEDAL WAH and FOOT VOLUME using the EV-1-WL pedal.
- The CTL1 and CTL2 jacks on the EV-1-WL can now be used to switch patches and turn effects on and off.
- It is now possible to use the BOSS TONE STUDIO for KATANA-AIR app to set the respective functions of the pedal and CTL1 and CTL2.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR UPDATE
- KATANA-AIR
- USB cable (sold separately)
- Computer with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port (Windows/Mac)
PRECAUTIONS
- Never apply this updater to any product other than the KATANA-AIR to avoid destroying data or the system program of other products.
- Never turn off the KATANA-AIR during the update process. If a power failure or other accident occurs while updating, the KATANA-AIR will not be able to start up with normal operating conditions. In this case, contact your nearest Roland Service Center or dealer for repair.
- Inquiries regarding the operating procedures for updating this system program are not supported. We appreciate your understanding.
DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE
- Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the “I agree” check box.
- Click the “Download” button to download the system program (katana_air_sys_v130.zip).
- Unarchive the downloaded file.
- Windows: Right-click the file and select “Extract All,” then click “Extract”.
- macOS: Double-click the file to unzip it.
- “katana_air_sys_v130” folder appears.
*DO NOT rename the files (KTNAIRRM.BIN, ROMINFO.TXT) in the folder.
UPDATE PROCEDURE
*While updating, connect the included AC adapter or use brand new alkaline or fully charged Ni-MH batteries.
- Turn on the power while pressing the [CH A] and [PANEL] buttons.
[CH A] and [CH B] buttons blink. - Connect KATANA-AIR and a computer with a USB cable.
[CH A] and [CH B] buttons change from blinking to lit, and the BOSS_KATANA drive appears on the computer screen. - Copy the updater “KTNAIRRM.BIN” and “ROMINFO.TXT” in the “katana_air_sys_v130” folder to the level displayed immediately on accessing the BOSS_KATANA drive (the BOSS_KATANA drive's root directory).
- After copying is complete, eject the BOSS_KATANA drive according to your OS specs or settings.
*For Mac, drag the BOSS_KATANA drive to the trash icon. - Disconnect the USB cable from the USB jack on the KATANA-AIR.
*Be sure to disconnect it from the USB jack on the KATANA-AIR unit. - When the [PANEL] button blinks, press the [PANEL] button.
Update begins.
*While the update is in progress, the [BST/MOD], [DELAY/FX], and [REVERB] buttons sequentially light up in red, orange, and green.
*Never turn off the KATANA-AIR's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise, the system program or the KATANA-AIR itself may be destroyed.
*When the update is complete, the [BST/MOD], [DELAY/FX], and [REVERB] buttons turn a slowly blinking green.
*If the update fails, the [BST/MOD], [DELAY/FX], and [REVERB] buttons blink rapidly. - Press and hold the [POWER] button.
[POWER] button changes from green to orange light to enter standby mode. - Press and hold the [POWER] button to turn off the power.
- Make sure it is updated to the latest version.
