HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the version of the system working on your KATANA-AIR before downloading the archive file.
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.
- Turn all controls all the way counterclockwise.
- Hold down CH A and CH B and press the power button to turn on the power.
- When the buttons other than the power button have flashed slowly two times, release the buttons under your fingers.
The buttons other than the power button flash rapidly two times.
The illuminated state (red or green) of BST/MOD, DELAY/FX, and REVERB indicate the version, as shown in the following table.Version BST/MOD DELAY/FX REVERB 1.00 R G R 1.01 R G G 1.10 G R R 1.20 G R G
R: lighted in red; G: lighted in green - Press and hold the power button to turn off the power.
The power button goes dark.

Additional Functions
- The EV-1-WL wireless MIDI expression pedal is now supported.
- You can control PEDAL WAH and FOOT VOLUME using the EV-1-WL pedal.
- The CTL1 and CTL2 jacks on the EV-1-WL can now be used to switch patches and turn effects on and off.
- It is now possible to use the BOSS TONE STUDIO for WAZA-AIR app to set the respective functions of the pedal and of CTL1 and CTL2.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR KATANA-AIR
- KATANA-AIR
- USB cable
* The update is carried out with the unit and the computer connected via USB.
Provide a cable suitable for connection to the computer you're using. - Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0.
- Driver program for KATANA

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the KATANA-AIR. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your KATANA-AIR while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the KATANA-AIR won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded "katana_air_sys_v120.zip" file on your computer to get the the "katana_air_sys_v120" folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
- You must not rename the extracted files.
- Never turn off the KATANA-AIR's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the KATANA-AIR itself may be destroyed.
- Hold down CH A and PANEL and press the power button to turn on the power.
CH A and CH B flash. - Connect the computer to the USB port.
The buttons that flashed in step 1 now light up steadily, and a BOSS_KATANA drive appears on the computer screen. - Copy the update-use files (KTNAIRRM.BIN and ROMINFO.TXT) to the root folder of the BOSS_KATANA drive.
- From Safely Remove Hardware (the lower-right icon on the computer), click Eject BOSS_KATANA. (If you're using a Mac, drag the BOSS_KATANA drive the Trash icon.)
Detach the USB cable from the KATANA-AIR.
* Be sure the end of the cable that you disconnect is the one that is connected to the KATANA-AIR connector.
PANEL flashes. - Press PANEL.
The update operation starts. While the update is in progress, BST/MOD, DELAY/FX, and REVERB sequentially light up in red, orange, and green.
* Never turn off the KATANA-AIR's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the KATANA-AIR itself may be destroyed.
When BST/MOD, DELAY/FX, and REVERB simultaneously flash slowly in green, the update is complete.
* If the update could not be applied correctly, these three buttons flash rapidly. - Press and hold the power button.
The color of the lighted power button changes from green to orange, and the unit enters standby mode. - Press and hold the power button to turn off the power.
The power button goes dark.
This completes the update operation. The new system program runs at the next startup.
Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.
